Signing commercial contracts, leases, and timesheets
Administrative desk work frequently stalls when an agreement or vendor onboarding form requires an immediate signature. Drawing directly on screen allows office workers, remote contractors, and HR staff to sign documents on desktop monitors, tablets, or touchscreen laptops without handling physical paper. The drawing box includes a Clear button so you can discard and redraw until your signature looks natural.
If you do not have a stylus or touchscreen handy, switching to Type mode formats your name in a distinguished serif Times Bold Italic face. Both drawn and typed signatures use solid black ink, matching conventional office standards for formal business correspondence, delivery dockets, and employee leave requests.
Edge alignment presets, date stamps, and transparent overlays
Document layouts usually reserve signing blocks in specific corners. The position selector places your signature 15 mm from the viewed page boundary in five standard locations: bottom right, bottom left, bottom centre, top right, or top left. Even if legal exhibits or scanned contracts have mixed portrait and landscape rotations, the 15 mm margin maintains consistent spacing relative to the viewed orientation.
The width slider adjusts size between 25 and 120 mm, defaulting to 50 mm, while height scales proportionally to prevent distorting your handwriting. Drawn marks are trimmed tightly to the ink and saved as transparent PNG graphics, meaning no opaque white background covers underlying lines or fine print. Ticking the date option adds today’s date in YYYY-MM-DD format directly beneath your signature using your device clock.
Legal parameters of visual signatures versus certificates
Office administrators must recognise the practical boundary between visual signatures and certified digital signatures. This tool applies a visual signature—an electronic graphic equivalent to signing a physical printout—which satisfies general commercial contracts, internal approvals, delivery notes, and lease agreements. It does not affix cryptographic certificate data or mathematically seal document contents; situations demanding qualified electronic signatures under specific statutory frameworks require specialised certification platforms.
Because placement uses preset positions rather than freeform dragging across an interactive preview, forms can be processed rapidly and consistently across multiple documents in the queue. Your drawn signature remains strictly inside browser memory and is deleted when the tab closes. Encrypted files must first be decrypted using Unlock PDF, and you can transition finished files into Compress PDF via Continue with.
Questions
Can I use this visual signature for office leases and supplier contracts?
Yes. Most commercial agreements, timesheets, and vendor contracts accept visual signatures. However, if a transaction explicitly requires a certificate-based qualified digital signature, you must use a dedicated certification service.
Why does the tool place signatures using presets rather than dragging?
Preset positions ensure uniform 15 mm margins from page borders across standard office documents, even when files contain rotated sheets, avoiding manual alignment inaccuracies.
Does FreeConvert1 keep a copy of my signature or documents?
No. The entire process runs locally in your browser using pdf-lib. Your paperwork never leaves your device, and your drawn signature is wiped as soon as you close the tab.
How do I place my signature only on the signature line of the last page?
The page setting defaults to the last page, which matches standard contract layouts. You can also specify the first page, all pages, or individual page numbers like 1, 3-5.
