Convert PDF to PNG

When a page of a contract, a filled form or a table has to go into a slide, a wiki or a support ticket as a picture, PNG keeps the small print legible. Each page is rendered in your browser and saved without lossy compression.

How to use the PDF to PNG converter

  1. Add the PDF.
  2. Pick a resolution: 150 DPI for screens, 300 DPI for print or for close-up crops of small print.
  3. Optionally type the pages you need under More settings.
  4. Press Convert and download the pages, or all of them in one ZIP.

Why PNG suits paperwork

Text, signatures, ruled lines and table borders have hard edges that lossy formats blur slightly. PNG stores every pixel exactly, so the image stays clean when someone zooms in, and a mostly text A4 page at 150 DPI is typically around 300 KB.

Full-colour photo pages behave differently and can produce PNGs of several megabytes each. When a document is mostly photographs, PDF to JPG gives far lighter files.

Resolution and memory

At 72 DPI each point on the page becomes one pixel, which is fine for thumbnails. 150 DPI looks sharp on a laptop screen; 300 DPI is print quality.

Doubling the resolution multiplies the pixel count by four, so long documents at 300 DPI take longer and need more memory. Converting only the pages you need keeps it quick.

File names that stay in order

Each image is named after the PDF plus a zero-padded page number, such as lease-page-04.png, so page 4 sorts before page 10 in any folder or attachment list.

That makes it simple to drop a run of pages into a slide deck or a ticket in the right order, without renaming anything by hand.

Questions

Will the background be transparent?

No. Pages are drawn on white, as they would print.

Can I get the original photos embedded in the page?

No. The tool renders whole pages; any picture on the page is part of the rendered image.

Can I convert several PDFs at once?

Yes. Files are processed in turn, and the ZIP button collects the pages of every file into a single archive.
